Elevator Services

Our team of experienced technicians ensure that installation of all new elevators are completed safely and up to code. 

This service includes installation of rails, brackets, platform, machine, cable weights,  and electrical piping, and ensuring that the car is running automatically. 

If there are no existing structural issues, installation of a new elevator can usually be completed within a three month timeframe. 

First Choice Elevator updates and refurbishes older elevators with current technology, while ensuring that they meet safety standards, and city code compliance.

This service includes replacement of controllers, wiring, doors and cabs with upgraded components that meet or exceed code, and reduce the risk of injury or entrapment. 

Our modernization service enables elevators installed 20 to 40 years ago to look brand new and operate safely at the same time. 

Our licensed technicians perform Category 1 & 5 NYC DOB compliant inspections. 

Category 1 inspections are annual and include no-load testing, cables, alarms and emergency lighting.    

Category 5 inspections are required every 5 years and cover full-load and full-speed testing, tripping speeds and brake and slip traction.   

Inspection reports must be submitted to DOB and defects resolved in a timely manner.  

First Choice Elevator now offers periodic inspections as required by NYC DOB. They are required once per calendar year, and at a minimum 90 days from the date of any Category 1 inspection. 

Inspection reports must be submitted to DOB within 14 days of completion, and defects resolved  within 90 days.  The department may grant an extension of 45 days based on an application by the owner demonstrating practical difficulty in meeting the 90 day timeframe.

We offer ongoing monthly preventative maintenance services that ensure our customers elevators are kept in optimal working order.  

Maintenance services include elevator shaft cleaning, lubrication of moving parts, controller and machine monitoring and assessment and replacement of worn out components. 

We also provide emergency response services such as evacuating people who are stuck in elevators.
